Previous customer, young teenage daughter wanted room done up.

Surprisingly this teenage girl had very definite ideas about what she wanted.
She wanted a Victorian study look, dark wood, she needed loads of storage, for clothes books, games and musical instruments – of which there were many.

Customised Walnut Storage

The room is a small Victorian terrace bedroom. We knew we had to do bespoke storage to keep the room as open as possible, the best dark wood for quality and price and my carpenter suggested walnut.  We sanded and varnished the floor but kept it natural colour, the walls were painted a soft buttercup to keep it open and to highlight woodwork features.

She resourced her own old-fashioned brocade purple facade fabric for the roman blind and bed throw

Floating High

Between the Mom, daughter and carpenter, we created a unique cosy nest suspended from the ceiling, to read chill and get the sea views.  furnished this with large cushions in the same fabric as the roman blind and we also sourced some unusual Big Foot Toile de Joie themed fabric for other cushions.
A rope ladder was used to access the nest, which provides a beautiful view over the local gardens to the sea.

Victorian Bed and Antique Bedside Table

The teenager selected a wrought iron bed to go with the Victorian study look, the walnut book shelves are very old fashioned looking and we had existing antique writing desk which fitted exactly as a bedside table.

Detail and Big Picture

Loved dealing with a young teenager with such a clear vision who was able to envisage details and big picture.
